This position is responsible for ensuring that patients are receiving patient-focused health care. Provides supervision and direction to other Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to ensure assessment, communication skills, and problems solving techniques are used to deliver quality care and to facilitate physician productivity. Contributes to the hiring and termination decisions; develops job descriptions, competency and performance standards; monitors assignments and productivity. The Supervisor serves as a departmental role model and resource to patients as well as internal and external customers in order to assure continuity of care and optimal clinical and financial outcomes. The role provides counseling and training, addresses disciplinary problems, and appraises performance. Will comply with all hospital by-laws, rules and regulations. Prescribes Category III and above drugs as indicated by state/federal licensing and ensures other Nurse Practitioners are following regulations.
Key Position Qualifications
- Master of Science Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant
- National Board certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC), or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
- Georgia State license
- ONS certification (optional)
- AOCNP (optional)
