Job Overview

To analyze, schedule and supervise the installation, preventative maintenance, and replacement of pneumatic, electric, electronic and variable frequency drive control heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC/Electrical) control systems. Must also possess an understanding of electrical, plumbing, painting and other maintenance activities.

Mainly performs the repairs, maint., installation of HVAC/Electrical equipment. Performs the design and modification of HVAC/Electrical equipment. Maintains equipment records, repair manuals, drawings and operating logs for compliance of state / JCAHO. Complies with established work safety precautions. Performs daily maintenance, calibration and repairs of HVAC/Electrical equipment. Participates in the Environment of Care meetings along with being a member of the infection control committee for reporting of the ventilation and air conditioning systems regarding efficiency and safety. Utilizes specifications and repair manuals. Assist with scheduling of maintenance and repairs to facilitate uninterrupted patient care. Remains current regarding equipment guidelines. Troubleshoots and performs diagnostic testing to the component level. Completes Preventative Maintenance work orders in a timely manner. Performs daily water and steam analysis of boiler and chiller water treatment. Also provides oversight to other maintenance engineers.

May perform or assist in performance of any of the following: preparation of cost estimates, preparation of material orders, maintenance of records, and preparation of reports. Uses standard precautions for infection control and adheres to all fire and safety codes. Because of necessary fluctuations of work loads in the skill area, an incumbent in this class may be required on an occasional basis and according to need to perform duties outside his trade area at a level of skill the same as or lower than required by his ordinary assignment.

Job Qualifications

  • 10 years experience as a journeyman HVAC/Electrician.
  • Must have extensive experience in a health care setting and well rounded in all aspects of building maintenance.
  • High School degree or GED, plus HVAC/Electrical trade school required.
  • Lifting/carrying of objects up to 50lbs or more
