Job Description:

The Sr. Rep, Financial Advocate is accountable for assisting patients and caregivers by delivering a true advocacy experience that focuses on delivering clear and accurate information about each patient’s financial obligations and quoted insurance benefits in a responsive and proactive manner. This role has three primary functions all equally important to the success of this position.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business or Health Administration

  • Minimum of associate degree in business, healthcare or equivalent is desired; otherwise a minimum 3 years’ experience in hospital admissions/patient access, registration, business office, financial counseling and/or insurance related field. 

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Outlook, basic computer skills, and basic office equipment. 

  • Ability to read and understand insurance terminology, insurance coverage quotes and the ability to understand and calculate reimbursement percentages, in-depth knowledge of insurance requirements needed, and understanding of out of network payers, secondary networks, non-local, national insurances.

  • 2-year minimum experience in financial counseling process, patient assistance programs, verification of benefits and charity care qualification.

  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements, insurance company requirements, Medicare and Medicaid preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of HIPAA, FMLA, COBRA, Patient Rights, Compliance, privacy and security laws, EMTALA and all hospital policies preferred.

  • Medical Terminology use and understanding is preferred.
