Job Description:

Hours: Mon - Fri 8:00am - 4:30pm

Payroll Specialist has responsibility to oversee the payroll process to ensure accurate and timely processing of the multi-state, bi-weekly CTCA payrolls for all stakeholders in accordance with State and Federal regulatory guidelines.  The Payroll Specialist is responsible for safeguarding stakeholder information and mitigating risks related to inaccurate pays, delays in deposits, and inaccurate financial reporting.  The Payroll Specialist provides payroll support to internal and external customers.  This position is responsible for timekeeping, interfacing with stakeholders to resolve payroll issues, responding to questions from stakeholders and management, payroll reporting, and conducting reviews and audits of payroll/HRIS information.  The Payroll Specialist assists in the education of payroll processes and policies to managers and stakeholders.  The Payroll Specialist periodically demonstrates discretion and independent judgment regarding processes, issue resolution and managing responsibilities.  The Payroll Specialist has direct impact on operational performance of the department and organization as well as impacts to stakeholder satisfaction.  This position partners with CTCA vendors that provide services to support payroll and benefit processing.  

Education/Experience Level

  • Associate degree in business or related area preferred.  
  • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years prior payroll experience. 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Must have experience with payroll reconciliation and balancing.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple priorities and requests with effective time management skills.  
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidential information.  
  • Strong understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws.  
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel.  
  • Must have advanced written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Ability to work professionally with all levels within the organization. 
  • Good interpersonal skills, customer focused, demonstrates initiative and effective in team environment.
