Position Overview

The Radiology RN is a registered nurse who delivers personalized comprehensive care to patients through the nursing process, combining therapeutic use of self, innovative technology and collaboration among patients, families and health care professionals.  The nurse is responsible and accountable for nursing skills as demonstrated by prescribing and coordinating nursing care for optimum patient outcomes. Works effectively with a variety of professional and ancillary personnel.  Has a general knowledge of all areas of nursing practice.  Demonstrates good judgment, initiative, and proficiency in nursing skills. Is able to work without direct supervision.  Shows professional interest through self-development, continuing education and involvement in professional organizations.  Is knowledgeable in physical assessment, sterile and aseptic techniques, intravenous (IV) skills and isolation techniques.  Has some knowledge of radiology procedures and radiation safety.  Presents a positive attitude and a professional appearance.  The nurse in the Imaging Services has a dynamic and varied role.  The major goal of the professional is to provide quality nursing care to the patients treated in this department.  Skills utilized in his/her job performance include assessment, communication, and teaching. The nurse ensures patient privacy and dignity.  Areas where the nurse may function are:  general diagnostic, interventional procedures, radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, computerized tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging.  Will recommend repairs and work process efficiencies within their area and/or the department.  Shares responsibility for the maintenance of efficient scheduling, patient flow and quality assurance, as well as having alertness for fiscal soundness within the division.

Key Position Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with minimum of two years clinical experience in an acute health setting
  • BSN
  • Emergency Department, Critical Care or Interventional Radiology experience a plus
  • Experience with oncology patients desired
  • Current PA – RN Licensure required
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
  • Conscious sedation certification preferred

Must possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Good organizational, verbal, interpersonal, analytical, read and comprehends verbal/written instructions, computer skills.
