Job Description:

***Part-Time role- 2 days/week (20 hours/week- benefits offered!). Must be able to work on Friday.***

The Occupational Health Practitioner is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Stakeholder (Employee) Health Program and, as such, is responsible for stakeholder and facility compliance and adherence to local, state and federal regulations.


  • Responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Stakeholder Health Program and, as such, is responsible for stakeholder and facility compliance and adherence to local, state and federal regulations.

  • Implements program goals and policies that have been established for employee health.  Annually reviews goals and policies relevant to employee health, including policies for individual departments. Plans for and participate in clinics, health fairs and wellness committee and wellness events.   

  • Responsible for performing health assessments of all new hires, including lab testing for titers and tuberculosis screening.  Provides vaccinations for MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis.  As needed provides screening for vision and color testing. Assesses appropriateness and eligibility for respiratory fit-testing.

  • Provides annual screening for tuberculosis for all healthcare providers, annual fit testing or Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) training for clinical staff and annual employee health screenings.  Performs ergonomic assessments for employees to minimize job-related injuries and provide recommendations for ergonomic equipment as needed. Educate on proper use of equipment.

  • Treats minor illness and injury according the occupational nurse guidelines and standard protocols. Act as a liaison for the employee and employee health care providers as needed for return to work status for personal illness or injury.

  • Manages employee injury program and Worker’s Compensation benefits. Manages the Worker’s Compensation cases to prevent loss to the company and return the injured worker to full job status as soon as possible. Works with the Worker’s Compensation provider to minimize loss time and minimize cost of injury through investigation of accidents and follow up on all injured employees during recovery to assure compliance to restrictions.

  • Prepares reports for and attends Infection Control, Safety and Environment of Care Committee meetings, provides guidance and act as a facility resource on all aspects of employee health and wellness.  Prepares and maintains employee medical records, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) reports and vaccination reports for employees. Maintains records and submits annual OSHA 300 report to federal electronic repository by March 1st annually to be in compliance with the Industrial Commission of Arizona and Department of Labor. Participates in OSHA investigations and surveys. Prepares annual report on Influenza vaccination data per NHSN guidelines and prepare and post annual OSHA data report by Feb 1st.

  • Participates in educational development involving employee health issues and serves as trainer in all related areas. Provides Blood borne pathogen and respiratory education annually at skills fair and departmental educational meetings. Educates stakeholders on proper use of ergonomic equipment, personal protective equipment.  Manages sharps safety plan including education on prevention of sharps injuries, safety mechanisms and treatment and reporting of sharps injuries.

  • Serves as a liaison between the facility, injured worker, the healthcare providers, the workers compensation carrier and pertinent administrative staff, relative to their functions. Performs additional tasks relative to the job functions and/or as instructed by supervisory, regulatory or administrative personnel as necessary.

  • Provides education for the facility on health and wellness, injury prevention and safety in the workplace. 


Experience: 1 year nursing experience in occupational health or related area

Education" Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent

Licensure: Arizona Registered Nurse License or a Registered Nurse License form a Compact State

Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification-

an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training site, American Safety & Health Institute, or Red Cross BLS certification is required upon hire. If their current certification does not meet the guidelines, stakeholders will have (30) days from the date of hire to acquire attend an onsite initial BLS course and will be required to renew every two years.
