Job Description:

Nurse Educator - Critical Care, ICU

Hours: Mon - Fri 8am - 5pm

Purpose Summary:

Serves as a member of the patient care team that is responsible to inspire and guide clinical stakeholders to achieve excellent outcomes.  This position is responsible for the delivery of clinically excellent nursing care through nursing competency, guiding the development of staff, the coordination of departmental and organizational wide plan for orientation, education, and training of staff. The nurse educator supports the vison of being a nationally recognized as the provider of premier nursing care. Adult learning principles, real time competency and empowerment are the framework for education.  This planning should be within the Shared Decision making structure and meet both accreditation standards as well as the strategic plan The coordination of activities include assessing, planning, implementing and evaluation of education programs, which are directed toward the achievement of excellence in patient care.  Follows the enterprise nursing philosophy and the Empowered for Excellence (E2) nursing professional practice model which are derived from the Benner model and Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring.


  Required Attributes:

    Graduate of NLNAC or CCNE School of Nursing, and licensed in the state of practice                     

    Education:     Bachelor’s Degree in nursing,

   Experience:    Minimum of three years progressive nursing experience in clinical acute

                           care, required.


Preferred Attributes:  


    Education:         Master’s of Science Degree (MSN) or Masters in Nursing (MN)

    Certification:      ANCC certification

                              OCN Certification

    Other:                Clinical Education experience

                               Critical Care Experience

                               Magnet experience
