Job Summary/Purpose:

Works under the Supervision of the RN, RN Supervisor and/or Clinic Director. This position will assist the designated care team with the management of patient caseloads by providing prompt response to telephone inquiries, assisting with unscheduled patients and other issues of a clinical nature, as requested.  The LPN will work as an integral team player providing support to the care teams as needed. The candidate is expected to adhere to and abide by the rules and regulations set for the by the Arizona Board of Nursing.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists members of the care teams in providing prompt responses to patient phone inquires and follow through with issues related, but not limited to, ordering of Durable Medical Equipment (DME), completing pre- authorizations for oral chemotherapies and follow-up calls, working with providers to facilitate the denial process and administering the co-pay assistance programs, as delegated by the care teams.
  • Provides excellent customer service by connecting with customers (patients, caregivers, members of the healthcare team) with a pleasant and professional demeanor. Listens attentively and educates patients and caregivers to ensure their understanding of their plan of care.
  • Displays excellent organizational and planning skills. Follows department guidelines for utilization of time, productivity, and performance improvements. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of key responsibilities.Effectively communicates interventions and patient questions to physician and/or care team, as appropriate.
  • Promotes interdepartmental and interdisciplinary collaboration, seeks to promote understanding and mutual achievement of goals.Collaborates with physicians, nursing, and hospital staff to ensure quality patient care.
  • May be directed to perform any or all Medical Assistant tasks and other responsibilities as required, within LPN scope of practice

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of an approved LPN program is required
  • Active LPN License in the state of Arizona is required
  • Two (2) years of LPN experience in a clinical setting is required
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is required
  • Oncology experience is preferred
