As a successful candidate, you will:

The Senior Security Engineer supports the Information Security Department (ISD) in evolving the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the information assets related to City of Hope business and information systems.  The incumbent in this role must have a professional image, the ability to work under pressure, and be able to resolve problems and conflicts.

 

The incumbent takes a technical leadership role in the information security program by contributing to the development of an enterprise wide security risk program, policies and standards, vulnerability life-cycle management and remediation, evaluation of new security technologies, and contributes to security incident and event management.  The incumbent takes a leadership role in supporting and assisting with coordination and implementation of all process and technical aspects of the Information Security Program. The incumbent will present technical analysis and measures to executive management.   Provide input into new security strategies and trends as well as measure and report on the processes that affect the integrity, functionality, and reliability of the City of Hope’s security control framework.

 

  • Analyze security systems and seek improvements on a continuous basis
  • Protect the organization's data and infrastructure by enabling the appropriate security controls.
  • Determine security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements
  • Maintain security by monitoring and ensuring compliance to standards, policies, and procedures
  • Research, design, and advocate new technologies, architectures, standards, and security products that will support security requirements for the enterprise, our customers, and business partners
  • Develop Risk Management Framework (RMF)-based policies and procedures
  • Provide support with the installation and configuration of network security architectures, including firewalls, router ACLs (Access Control Lists), web content filters and Demilitarized Zones (DMZ)
  • Support and assist with enforcement of Information Security Policies and Standards.
  • SME for Legal / HR investigations gathering all relevant data following chain of custody procedures
  • SME for all forensics investigations recovering data to be used as evidence in criminal prosecutions
  • Testing and identifying network and system vulnerabilities via Ethical Hacking methodologies.
  • Develop best practices and security standards for the organization
  • Partake in technical design reviews, integration, testing, and documentation work
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree; 3 additional years of experience plus the minimum experience requirement may substitute for minimum education.
  • Five or more years of experience. 
  • OR
  • Masters degree and 3 years of experience
  • Hospital/healthcare industry experience is desirable, but not required.
  • Working knowledge of Information Security tools, practices, policies and processes in a multi-vendor environment with an emphasis on risk analysis, risk assessment and risk management. 
  • Management/Computer Information Systems (MIS/CIS), Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
