Job Description:

The Education Specialist Coordinator serves as a consultant/resource professional by providing stakeholder development expertise as an educator, facilitator, change agent, leader and researcher. The Education Specialist Coordinator supports the development of the direct-care clinical stakeholders and fosters nursing excellence through new knowledge and the delivery of evidence-based practice. Facilitation of the educational process includes assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency assessment, continuing education and leadership development. The Education Specialist Coordinator also serves as a role model for professional behavior.

Works with Department Managers to provide a continuum of education needed to keep employees current in areas of their care delivery and job description.   Provides patients and family the education needed to make informed decisions about their treatment regimens.

Facilitates learning by gaining understanding of the learners' abilities to learn, emotional barriers, desire and motivation to learn, physical and/or cognitive limitations, language barriers, and readiness to learn.

Will oversee a group of clinical education stakeholders in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. Implements, coordinates, inspects, and evaluates clinical education programs and curriculum. Also responsible for seeking more effective methods and contents to ensure delivery of high-quality clinical education. Ensures that project/department KPIs/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.

Coordinate the ongoing Magnet recognition program in collaboration with the Director of Nurses and the CNO. Responsible for coordinating and facilitating structures and processes that support promotion of nursing excellence and related knowledge transfer throughout Southeastern Regional Medical Center. The role includes coordinating all aspects of the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program® to obtain Magnet designation.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years Oncology experience preferred
  • Current and valid Georgia licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) required
  • BSN required; MSN preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
