Job Description:

The Executive Chef has the overall responsibility for the culinary program including the main dining room, inpatient dining, online and infusion meal programs, special events and catering. This position will direct a high-quality, cost effective kitchen and food preparation operation and is responsible for planning and implementing a variety of nutritionally balanced, attractive and cost-effective meal menus, including modified diets; continuously improving the quality of services provided.  Directly supervises culinary personnel and shares responsibility of hiring, training, rewarding and disciplining stakeholders with team leaders. Assumes major responsibility for staff development, training, hiring, daily tasting/inspection of food and guest satisfaction and works closely with Nutrition Department in ensure diet compliance for patients and Wellness Initiative for the hospital.

  • Degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel Restaurant Management, or related field preferred with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in a 5-star restaurant management preferred.
  • Creativity for creating high quality, nutritious recipes, and menus, with seasonal influences
  • Ability to identify defects in food preparation and service and implement improved quality control procedures.
  • Excellent planning, organizational and communication skills (verbal and written)  and ability to effectively manage and respond to changing demands
  • Proficient in use Microsoft Office required and ability to quickly become proficient on relevant technologies required to perform job (POS, Computrition,  financial and ordering, and other applications)  is required.
  • Serv-Safe Certification or equivalent
