Works as a member of the CTCA Environmental Services team in an effort to provide non-medical sanitation support as a contribution to positive patient outcomes. Takes care of regular discharge, patient/guest room, restroom, departmental, general cleaning and other assigned scheduled cleaning tasks. Completes work in accordance with standard procedures of the environmental services department, in accordance with the hospital objectives. Uses cleaning equipment, commercial vacuums and all necessary tools, products and supplies.
Using caution, vacuums carpets for cleaning and bacteria control before shampooing using a wide area vacuum. Shampoos and/or extracts carpets, removes stains on all carpeted areas throughout the facility leaving carpets clean and with an even appearance. Refinishes break rooms, department areas, elevators, kitchens, utility areas, patient rooms, infusion stations, kitchen floors, serving line and entrances.
Places wet floor sign. Scrubs the floor with buffer to remove all soil. Cleans corners and baseboards prior to laying sealant or finish to base floor materials on all hard surface floors throughout the facility and returns floor to glossy appearance. Removes wet floor sign when complete and dry. Arranges rooms to their original state upon completion.
Cleans equipment and stores properly daily. Checks/refills batteries and cleans filters daily. Notifies supervisor or manager of equipment in need of repair. May perform other duties as assigned.
Assists in cleaning of emergency spills (chemo) observed or upon request. Discusses all isolation, chemo/radiation case rooms with nursing to establish the safety and cleaning procedures for those specific rooms and what type of protective clothing may be necessary. Uses precautionary clothing and actions when working with hazardous materials, including all cleaning chemicals.
Must be reliable (attendance, tardy, early leaves). Attends all departmental and organizational meetings. Adheres to break/lunch time policy (go when scheduled and in designated areas).
Follows instructions written and verbal. Practices courtesy and patience with guests, coworkers and staff. Exhibits a positive attitude among departmental and organizational goals expressed through actions and words.
- One year previous Environmental Services experience preferred
- One year previous Environmental Services or Hospitality experience required without High School diploma or GED
