Job Description:

Hours: 32 hrs per week between Mon - Fri, 1st shift

*Onsite. This is not a remote position*


The Coordinator, Lab is responsible for performing a variety of tasks for the pathology office including but not limited to the management of incoming and outgoing pathology specimens, accessioning cases, processing orders and preparing specimens for send-out, adding addendums to patient reports and performing follow-up on pending tasks; includes assisting with filing and storage of slides and blocks. Acts as a liaison to oncology teams, providing status updates on cases and managing all internal and external inquiries. Performs specimen processing in the main clinical laboratory.


  • Locates, contacts, and secures slides/blocks from outside facilities, as requested, and returns these review case materials to originating facilities in a timely manner per regulatory guidelines
  • Processes all send out orders
  • Accessions and assigns cases to Pathologists for review and completes follow-up on pending and cancelled cases
  • Inputs addendums to patient reports on a daily basis, as results are received and saves results in HIM file and Apollo
  • Files and stores slides and blocks for the required time frame
  • Acts as a liaison to oncology teams, providing status updates on cases and managing all internal and external inquiries
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Laboratory/Pathology Supervisor or Laboratory Director/Manager and Medical Director
  • Performs specimen processing duties in main clinical laboratory


  • High School diploma required, Associates degree preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel
  • 2 years’ experience working in a health care setting preferred
