Job Description:
Physician Assistant
JOB SUMMARY
The Physician Assistant provides independent and collaborative medical management to a defined patient population, according to standardized procedures and in collaboration with a physician supervisor. They provide primary, secondary, and in some cases, tertiary care within scope of practice, licensure, and organizational policies. The services they provide include, but are not limited to: taking histories, conducting physical examinations, ordering, performing and interpreting appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests and therapies and furnishing drugs and devices in a cost efficient manner for specific conditions. Emphasis is placed on health promotion, disease prevention and patient education, combining the qualities of both nursing and medicine. The physician assistant acts as a health care resource and role model to staff by maintaining a high degree of ethics and integrity.
Utilizes critical judgment in the performance of comprehensive health assessment, differential medical diagnosis including ordering, conducting, interpreting diagnostic and laboratory tests, and the prescribing of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments in the direct management of acute and chronic illness and disease.
- Conducts comprehensive physical examination.
- Initiates and interprets diagnostic tests and procedures relevant to the patient’s current status.
- Critically analyzes the assessment data in determining the diagnoses.
Prioritizes diagnoses using appropriate complex clinical reasoning.
Develops and implements a comprehensive plan of care that includes interventions and treatments to attain expected outcomes.
- Assumes responsibility for independent, direct medical management of a defined patient population, according to standardized procedures and in collaboration with a supervising physician.
- Addresses strategies for improving health status that reflect current health care, knowledge, research, and practice.
- Develops and implements patient education activities; provides education and counseling to patients.
- Involves patient, family, and other members of the health care team, including use of community resources in the plan of treatment.
Collaborates with the health team members to establish priorities, manage care, and coordinate efforts to achieve desired outcomes in providing planned treatment and services to the client.
Utilizes appropriate or specialized knowledge and skills in the provision of direct patient care.
- Prescribes, orders, or implements interventions and treatments for the treatment/care plan.
- Prescribes or dispenses drugs and devices based on a knowledge of pharmacological and physiological principles in accordance with state and federal laws and regulation, and as authorized under the appropriate Board of Nursing.
- Utilizes an extensive awareness of community assets and available resources when assisting with making appropriate referrals and outreach.
Documents services provided to the patient in the electronic medical record.
- Follows City of Hope HIPAA guidelines and other state medical information requirements.
- Documents revisions in diagnoses, outcomes, and treatment plans.
Refers a patient to a physician or another health care provider if a situation or condition occurs in a patient as appropriate and needed.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
Experience-Minimum 2 years OR/First Assist training/experience
Education-Completed a program approved by the Committee on Allied Health Education of the American Medical Association Council on Medical Education for the training of Physician Assistants; or Education programs on the Armed Forces of the United States, Public Health Service, or their successor agencies which meet the criteria specified by NCCPA. Successfully passing National Certification Examination
Licensure-Current Georgia Physician Assistant License
DEA with 6 months of hire
Certification-American Heart Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Special Skills-Proficient computer skills
PREFERRED
Experience-3 years as OR/First Assist in related specialty
Nurse Practitioner
JOB SUMMARY
Advanced Practice Nurses (APRN) are registered nurses who have acquired the formal education, extended knowledge base and clinical skills to practice in an advanced role as a credentialed member of the medical staff and direct health care provider. Nurse Practitioners are authorized to practice by the State Board of Nursing in the state of practice via their advanced practice education, licensure, board certification in a specialty area and other additional skills for which they have been prepared through post-graduate education and training. The APRN serves as a leader and role model for professional development of peers and others. The APRN will work collaboratively with other health care professionals.

Pay Range
$101,111.00 - $166,464.00Placement within the identified pay range is based on individual and market factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, credentials (including licenses and certifications), geographic location, market competition, skill set (including market availability of required skills), assigned/anticipated job tasks, and level of responsibility. These factors are considered without regard to an individual’s status as a member of any protect group pursuant to federal, state, and/or local law.
