Under the general supervision of the Director of Laboratory Services, the pathology technical assistant is responsible for handling pathology specimens from frozen section, surgery, and imaging cases. The pathology technical assistant will proficiently stain and mount specimens for pathology examination. The pathology technical assistant will assist the pathologist(s) following established standards and practices. Will assess and assist in the technical and clerical needs of the pathology department for support for regulatory and process improvement initiatives. Implements and utilizes quality management standards in compliance with CAP directives/checklists/protocols. Actively leads and/or participates in process improvement activities and other duties as assigned.

  • Experience in Pathology as a technical assistant experience required.
  • Minimum of 1 year hospital or clinic experience required.
  • Associates Degree, medical assistant program certificate or some college credits preferred.
