The Operational Innovation Specialist will support the facilitation and execution of innovation opportunities at both the hospital and enterprise operations levels. This role will report directly to the Director of Operational Innovation and work intimately with the Operational Excellence Team as a whole. Key responsibilities will include identifying critical functions within the organization in need of process transformation, seeking solutions to address the operational challenges, and owning the execution of new process implementation. Additionally, the Operational Innovation Specialist will keep apprised of external innovation opportunities that would be advantageous to integrate into current state hospital operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a creative and dynamic mindset channeled towards the transformation of the healthcare industry, which continues to face the pressures of decreasing the cost of care, increasing the quality of both care and care coordination, as well as a unique and customized patient experience. Critical on-the-job skills required include: excellent organization and time management, data analytics, problem solving, team and meeting facilitation, project management, coaching, influencing, and effective communication and presentation capability.
Key Position Qualifications
- Minimum BS/BA required. (Preferably in a clinical discipline, system performance engineering, industrial engineering, public health, or healthcare administration).
- 3-5 years of process improvement experience. Process improvement experience in a hospital or health system setting preferred.
- Experience in implementing the Toyota Production System (or similar Operational Excellence Systems/Models) in a healthcare environment. Specific experience in deploying systems for daily management a significant plus
- LSS Green Belt or LSS Black Belt preferred
- Demonstrated track record of delivering successful high impact process improvement projects
