Charge Capture Specialist collaborates with department managers, directors, clinicians, process improvement staff and/or other designated contacts to continually improve and maintain the efficiency and accuracy of the overall charging process. Charge Capture Specialist is responsible for reading patient charts and ensuring that all appropriate charges are captured to maximize revenue. Identifies, analyzes and reconciles billing errors or omissions and safety events by reviewing documentation. Educates clinical staff on proper Medicare approved charting technique to reduce errors and remain compliant. Enters charges and completes chart/charge audits daily. Works closely with Compliance staff to ensure all charge master codes are up to date and accurate. Charge Capture Specialist works with the assigned department to ensure appropriate revenue capture process for all the new service offerings. Collaborates with team to provide coverage for team members who are on leave status. Maintains standard work instructions and stays current on cross-training for other assigned areas.
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Understanding of ICD10 coding preferred
Certified Coder preferred
Two-three years of experience in hospital or medical clinic billing preferred
Two -three years in the medical health field with medical terminology preferred
Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
Skills in office computer programs and proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook.
